To enhance the offering of products for the mid-range customer segment, Clavister today announced a number of changes in the Clavister M-Series of firewall appliances. Two new product models are added to the M-Series; the Clavister M460 and the Clavister M660, differentiated mainly by performance and Ethernet interface configuration.

Based on the same unique core technology as all other Clavister Firewall products, the new M-Series product models include full Virtual LAN support, bandwidth management possibilities, IPsec compliant VPN and High Availability back up support. The new M460 has a throughput of 400 Megabits per second for plaintext traffic and is equipped with six auto-sensing Fast Ethernet interfaces, while the M660 delivers 600 Megabits per second of throughput, and is equipped with five Fast Ethernet interfaces and one Gigabit Ethernet interface for uplink purposes.

Both new product models deliver 260 Megabits per second of throughput for AES encrypted VPN traffic.

The older M560 product is being discontinued from the 1st of July.

The products in the Clavister M-Series are designed primarily for being used as perimeter security for mid-range companies and organizations, as central gateways in medium-sized VPN networks or for service providers and hosting centers with network loads up to gigabit class.
