Clavister Launches new High-End Platforms for Service Providers and Large Enterprises [2004-09-29]Clavister today announced the availability of two new high-end product platforms, the Clavister Security Gateway 4200 and Clavister Security Gateway 4400 series. The two new series are designed to meet the fierce requirements from the telecom industry and large enterprises, while still providing an unbeatable price/performance ratio.
With the advent of the Clavister Security Gateway 4200 and Security Gateway 4400 series, Clavister maintains its position as a leading European supplier of high-performing security technology. Not only do the new platforms bring a new generation of security products to the market, but they also set the new standard for flexibility and versatility. The new series are empowered with the latest Clavister firmware, adding powerful virtual routing and virtual system capabilities, along with secure OSPF routing, OSPF over IPSec and other sophisticated features.
The Clavister Security Gateway 4200 Series is designed specifically for large enterprises, high-load VPN networks, data centers, service providers and similar organizations in need of supreme and robust security solutions. The 4200 series consists of three product models; 4210, 4230 and 4250, differentiated by performance and functionality. Built as a compact 19", 1U height, rack-mountable system, the 4200 series provides a plaintext throughput of up to 2 Gigabit per second, an IPSec throughput of up to 1 Gigabit per second, 1,000,000 concurrent connections and up to 500 virtual routers.
The four product models in the Clavister Security Gateway 4400 Series targets essentially the same customer groups as the 4200 series, but delivers an even higher capacity; up to 4 Gigabit per second of plaintext throughput, 5,000,000 concurrent connections and up to 1,000 virtual routers.
The two new platforms are equipped with ten Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, of which eight are modular based on the SFP, Small Form Pluggable, (Mini-GBIC) multi source agreement industry standard. A selection of copper, multi and single mode fiber SFP modules are available from Clavister. In addition, four Fast Ethernet interfaces provide support for out-of-bands management, high availability synchronization and much more.
For improved resilience, both series are equipped with swappable power supplies and fan modules, and for use in telco environments, the power supply modules are available in DC versions.
"With these new hardware platforms, we are confident that our customers can safely deploy security solutions even in their most demanding environments, without sacrificing performance or functionality," says John Vestberg, VP of Technology at Clavister.
Following the Clavister X-PANSION LINES concept, customers can easily upgrade the 4200 or 4400 products to a more powerful model within the same series, only by performing a few simple operations from the central management software. This enables a highly balanced choice between current system requirements and financial resources.
